With nearly twenty years’ experience, Mr. Sayles is a go-to litigator for a wide variety of individuals and entities. Prior to founding MSR, Andrew was a partner with a large New Jersey-based law firm where he represented clients in consumer class actions, professional liability, commercial disputes and general liability claims. Andrew places the highest priority on client relationships and is committed to being a partner, colleague and advisor to those he represents.
Andrew’s clients include multi-national corporations and manufacturers, design professionals, attorneys, law firms and private individuals. He has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in commercial, fraud, construction and consumer law matters. His insurance defense practice includes errors and omissions, specialty and general liability claims. He frequently represents licensed professionals (e.g., attorneys, architects, engineers, physicians) in negligence-based litigations, institutions relevant to abuse-related allegations and personal injury litigation.
Andrew also focuses a large portion of his practice on consumer class actions, where he has been involved in multiple state and national class action lawsuits. These cover federal consumer protection statutes such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Fair Debt Collection Practice Act (FDCPA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and state legislation such as Section 349 of New York’s General Business Law and New Jersey’s Consumer Fraud Act (CFA) and Truth-in-Consumer Contract, Warranty and Notice Act (TCCWNA). In additional to representing clients in litigation, Andrew also offers guidance and counseling regarding compliance with various enumerated consumer protection laws.
Andrew’s advocacy experience also extends beyond the trial court level. He has represented numerous clients in matters before state and federal appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States and New Jersey’s Supreme Court. He has argued multiple matters before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and has advocated before the United States Solicitor General, Federal Trade Commission and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
Andrew is also very active within the local bar and national associations. Locally, he is on the Board of Directors for the Brennan-Vanderbilt Inn of Court, an American Inns of Court chapter. There he serves at its Curriculum Chair and works closely with newly admitted attorneys, judges and peers. Nationally, he serves as Chair for the Professional Liability Claims Committee with the Professional Liability Defense Federation (PLDF), serves on the Defense Research Institute’s (DRI) Commercial Law Committee and is the Membership Chair for DRI’s Professional Liability Committee. Against this background, Andrew is often asked to present at local and national seminars and has authored many articles concerning consumer law, class actions and professional liability.
Andrew is a graduate of Syracuse University. As an undergraduate, he was in the University’s Honor’s Program and graduated cum laude with degrees in Political Science and International Relations. At Syracuse University’s College of Law, he was a Dean’s List student, participated in the Grossman Moot Court Trial Competition and interned with the Legal Services of Central New York. He is a Fellow of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and a graduate of the ABOTA Trial College in 2014. He was named as a Rising Star by New Jersey Super Lawyers from 2014 to 2019 and as a Super Lawyer in 2021 and 2022. In 2019, he was recognized by the New Jersey Law Journal as a “New Leader of the Bar”, an award recognizing the top 40 attorneys under the age of 40 in the State of New Jersey.
Outside of his law practice, Andrew coaches youth soccer and basketball teams and is a board member for Friends of the Word, Inc., a non-profit Catholic charity and faith-oriented entity.
