Mr. Ramirez has earned a reputation as a“do it all” litigator with a truly diverse trial practice. In this capacity he has prepared and tried multiple cases to verdict, and is experienced in a variety of alternative dispute and arbitration forums. Mitch primarily represents companies of all sizes in complex commercial disputes. Mitch has been consistently recognized by his peers as a New Jersey Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in the field of litigation, and has been included in Best Lawyers in America’s list of “Ones to Watch” in commercial litigation. He and his partner Andrew met while litigating cases together at a large, well respected New Jersey firm. They decided to join Monique’s already thriving trial practice in order to better serve their business clients in a lean and efficient manner. MSR’s aim is to provide the talent of big firm counsel, with the client attention that only a small practice can provide.
Mitch specializes in disputes arising out of commercial real estate transactions, breach of contracts (specifically supplier and service contracts), shareholder disputes, trade secret/non-compete matters and the defense of a variety of other business torts. Mitch’s practice, although focused in New Jersey, extends nationwide. His clients include small businesses, major Real Estate Investment Trusts, and everything in between. He understands that from the second a lawsuit is served or initiated, there are immense financial and logistical stresses on a business.
Mitch also has extensive experience in the area of insurance services. Notably, Mitch began his career at a notable plaintiff’s personal injury firm in northern New Jersey as an associate, counsel and eventually partner. Mitch draws upon this experience in advising a diverse clientele that spans local commercial property owners to Fortune 500 companies in insurance and professional liability defense matters. This practice also entails advising insurers in major recovery litigation in both a plaintiff and defense context. These matters involve not only recovery, but also fraud and rescission actions. He is also experienced in serving as monitoring counsel on insurance layers ranging from $50m-$200m in major personal injury actions.
Mitch’s practice additionally involves counseling small and mid-sized companies in both a litigation and non litigation context on regulatory, white collar, contract, and general business matters. He most notably advises established cannabis growers, processors and distributors on these and other business matters, recognizing the unique challenges that these companies face from state regulators.
Mitch is also adept at serving as local litigation counsel to law firms nationwide in New Jersey and New York State and Federal Courts.
Mitch is a graduate of Villanova University where he was an Underrepresented Presidential Scholar. He then attended Notre Dame Law School where he was a Moot Court Appellate Board member. He briefed and argued the matter of Suggs v. United States, 705 F.3d 279 (7th Cir. 2013) before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals as pro bono counsel while in law school. Mitch is a fellow of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and is a 2018 graduate of their trial college. He is active in the Hudson County Bar Association, the Hispanic Bar Association, the New Jersey Association for Justice and is a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson & Union Counties. He sat as the only associate member of his previous large firm’s committee on diversity and inclusion.
